Meet the Class of 2021

Last month, we welcomed 103 new students to the Class of 2021 at orientation. Our incoming class represents 21 states, 5 countries, and a variety of backgrounds and life experiences (everything from communications and studio art majors to business and geography majors). Their average age is 25, and 78% of them had prior work experience. They are 41% minority and 62% female.

Now that our first-year students are settled in, we're looking forward to our next crop of students. The fall 2020 application will be online and will be available on November 1st. We know that many of you refer students (31% of the Class of 2021 heard about us via our alumni or students!) so please continue to send talented candidates our way!

Vann Graves Speaks at McKinney

Our Executive Director, Vann Graves, spoke at the inaugural chapter event for the One Club Carolinas last month. During his time at the McKinney offices, Vann had the opportunity to sit down with their "Mterns", including a familiar Brandcenter face, Emily Mascher, a 2nd-year Strategy student who spent her summer interning at McKinney.

Vann's talk, Let's End Diversity Theater: It's Time to Get Real, contained opportunities to discuss topics around diversity, inclusion, and our desire to work with agencies to address issues that will most affect the future of advertising.

#BrandFam for #KickAsh

While we often use this newsletter to share the impressive work and accolades of our alums, we want to take a minute to ask for positive thoughts, prayers, good vibes, etc. for Ashleigh and Brekan Kohlitz (both CBM grads from 2011.) As you may know, Ashleigh beat her first round of cancer about 5 years ago. Now she’s preparing for round 2, and we have no doubt she'll #kickash again! We want her to know she has the power of the #brandfam behind her.

Marcus Brown (AD, 2008), Marika Wiggan (ST, 2010), John Gaglio (CBM, 2015), Eddy Allen (AD, 2018), Matt Klugman (CW, 2017), Kelly Cabaniss (CW, 2017) and their team at Preacher created this new work for Fanta to celebrate the many different vibes of their Gen Z fans.

Arts & Letters Debuts New Work for ESPN

You probably know Arts & Letters best for their Google work, but here’s some work for their newest client, ESPN. The A&L team included Blair Seward (AD, 2015), Elizabeth Daniel (CW, 2015), Albert Song (AD, 2015), Martin Madriaga (CBM, 2018), Jessica Sartoretto (CBM, 2013), Andy Grayson (ST, 2003), and Charles Hodges (CW, 2009).
