Director of Inclusion Strategy, Netflix
Carl believes we all hold more agency than we realize. Whether he’s hosting a podcast, coaching a client, or focusing on organizational transformation, this belief is always front and center. With this belief, Carl founded The Boom List, in 2018, to celebrate and highlight creative thinkers of color across varied industries. As a coach, he partners with clients to discover their creative process to find action towards their purpose. Program Instruction Details
This is a hybrid 60% asynchronous / 40% synchronous, discussion-based learning program taught by Carl Desir, Founder of The Boom List and Director of Inclusion Strategy at Netflix. This program will be rooted in a read, watch, listen, discuss format. Pre-work will consist of articles, videos, and podcasts that will prepare students for discussion with a subject matter expert. Most importantly, participants will be split into groups that will continue the conversation in a more intimate setting.
Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are once again at the forefront of society’s attention. Now more than ever it is imperative that business leaders are equipped with the knowledge and skills to address the challenges they face now and will in the future.
This program will help business leaders on their EDI learning journey by exploring essential topics with subject matter experts and in small groups. Gain a deeper understanding of the issues and what’s stopping you from fully showing up as an empathic and action-oriented leader.
Today’s leader needs to consider the importance of understanding, action, and purpose through a lens of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). In partnership with Carl Desir, BCX has designed a six-week program to help leaders dive into EDI topics and build a community to foster discussions throughout and beyond the program.
You might ask: “Can’t I just read a few books, watch a documentary, or listen to some podcasts on my own?”
The answer is yes, but this BCX program will be guided by subject matter experts who have a deep knowledge in the space. It will give participants the added benefit of a community that can work through the materials together, lean on each other for support, and collect tools, resources, and contacts to refer back to.
Topics Covered (subject to change):
- EDI Basics
- EDI Data
- EDI Training vs. Learning
- Hiring and Retention
- Self Work
We want you to walk away with a better understanding of how to build inclusive communities. Participants will acquire the skills necessary for strategically approaching diversity and change. This program won’t give you all the answers but it will provide you with knowledge and tools to help you to put words into action to build a more equitable environment.
Who should take this?
Any business leader who is committed to EDI, accountability, and action.
Make sure to have a computer, a strong internet connection, the Zoom application, and come ready to be open and vulnerable.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
After completing a BCX program, participants will receive a certificate of completion, enhanced understanding of the program material, and a new network of professional colleagues.
