Brandcenter Students Win Gold and Bronze at The One Club’s Young Ones Student Awards
Two Brandcenter student teams were named winners in the 2020 Young Ones Student Awards, a program by The One Club for Creativity.
Aura, a school lighting system built to alert first responders during a school shooting, was awarded the first place Gold Cube in the Product Design/Innovation category. The Brandcenter team that designed the product was made up of second year students from a variety of concentrations: Tory Nagel (ST, 2020), Danielle Johnson (XD, 2020), Stevenson Cerrillo (CW, 2020), and Arielle Bryant (AD, 2020). Their goal with Aura was to design a system that would help cut down on the time it takes for first responders to arrive on the scene during a school shooting, thus saving lives.
In a campaign designed for Miller Genuine Draft, first years Madeline Guzzo (AD, 2021), Liam McKay (AD, 2021), and Marshal Turner (XD, 2021) honed in on the meaning of “genuine” in a world of fake news. The campaign, which was awarded a Bronze Pencil in the Client Brief, Integrated category, celebrates whatever makes you your genuine self, from roller derby to tractor racing.
The Young Ones Student Awards recognize the best young creative talent from around the world in a variety of creative disciplines. The Young Ones Brief competition tasks students with creating work for different types of clients for the chance to earn a One Show Pencil. The Young Ones ADC competition offers students the chance to earn an ADC Cube by competing in the same disciplines and categories as the ADC Annual Awards. The Young Ones Portfolio competition is an opportunity for students to showcase examples from their portfolio in a variety of creative disciplines.
Congratulations to our Brandcenter students!
