Nancy Strange

Visiting Professor of Practice & Interim Chair, Copywriting

After 15+ years feverishly scribbling headlines, brand manifestos, and scripts for two guys who eat Sonic burgers in the front seat of their car, Nancy is overjoyed to serve as Visiting Professor of Copywriting at Brandcenter.

Nancy’s career spans both major ad agencies and in-house creative teams at places like Lean In, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, FCB West, and JWT NY. She’s crafted concepts and messaging for a wide range of clients including Clorox, Levi’s, Umpqua Bank, Eli Lilly, Specialized, and Diamond Trading Company.

As Head of Brand Voice and Executive Creative Director at Lyft, Nancy achieved two career highlights: turning the Wienermobile into a Lyft XL for a day, and recreating Young Thug’s iconic meme (IYKYK).

In her professional life, Nancy’s a fierce champion of short sentences, ruthless editing, and the Oxford comma. In her personal life, she’s a run-on-sentence writer, urban farmer, unrepentant cat lady, and co-author of Let There Be GWAR (Gingko Press, 2015). She identifies as chaotic good.

Nancy received her BA in English from VCU and her MA in Advertising from University of Texas at Austin.
