Before becoming a full-time professor, Jess Collins spent over 10 years in the trenches as a strategic planner working for some of the largest brands in the world including Walmart, Target, Kellogg’s, Colgate, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, and SC Johnson.
Jess comes to the VCU Brandcenter from the VCU Robertson School of Media & Culture where she designed curriculum, taught capstone classes, and developed initiatives such as the Strategic Workshop in collaboration with the One Club for Creativity and VCU Camp ADventure.
Jess received her BA in Spanish and BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia and her MS in Communications from the Brandcenter (Strategy, 2010). She is the recipient of the Richmond Ad Club’s Advertising Person of the Year for 2020 and the Director of Strategy for Fable Branding & Advertising.
She is married to her high school sweetheart and is now a proud member of the USC Gamecocks family, where her only child is a current incoming freshman.
