My first interview was at Journeys Shoes. It was a commission-based retail job. The interviewer asked me what made me a good salesman. I told them that it’s that I’m not one—because I won’t tell customers what they want to hear, I’ll tell them what’s true. Now I work in advertising. Funny how some things never change.
