Poetry and sports started as a quiet crutch for me. Over time, they merged and seeped into my voice as a writer and became the spark that shaped my growth as an empathetic leader. In college, even though they seemed like opposites, it fueled my drive both on and off the field. I served as a captain within my position group on the football team while helping bring the university newspaper back to life and guiding emerging journalists.
