My parents have lovingly forgotten how they came up with my name, which made for a very uninteresting “where did your name come from?” presentation in second grade. By complete coincidence, it happens to mean “cat” in Turkish. So, it was very exciting to see “Kedi” on the boards of movie theaters when the 2016 documentary about cats in Istanbul—named simply Kedi—was garnering critical acclaim. I feel a weird amount of pride for that movie … 98% on rotten tomatoes!
