“I knew it was a huge gamble- 2 years full-time, student loans, and fear of missing out on other opportunities that I wouldn’t be pursuing for that time.”

Growing up, I had many interests. As a child I wanted to be librarian. Later, I decided I wanted to be translator. In undergrad, I dreamed of working towards a PhD in anthropology.

When I was in undergrad, I learned about the VCU Brandcenter Strategy track through word of mouth.

The VCU Brandcenter piqued my interest. Being someone who likes to do my research, I started to go to an info session every few months to make certain it was the right decision for me. I knew it was a huge gamble- 2 years full-time, student loans, and fear of missing out on other opportunities that I wouldn’t be pursuing for that time.

But at the same time I saw the VCU Brandcenter Strategy track as an opportunity to combine all my passions. My anthropology degree would be an asset. So I applied and took the gamble.

The nice thing is now, almost 2 years from when I turned in my application, I can look back and recognize that the gamble was worth it. Being a strategist has allowed me to learn where to look for answers, who to talk to, and how to relay my findings in an understandable manner. It’s let me do everything I wanted to do.
