Brandcenter Student Team Recognized by Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards

We are thrilled to share that a team of recent Brandcenter alumni have been recognized in the student category by Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards for their cutting-edge app concept, “Sous.” This accolade recognizes their exceptional innovation and commitment to tackling real-world problems through design.

“Sous” is an AI-powered app designed to address food waste at its source. It allows users to create a digital inventory of their pantry and generates recipes based on the ingredients they already have. By focusing on the kitchen, Sous offers a practical solution to a major environmental issue, helping to reduce the incredible amount of waste that ends up in U.S. landfills annually.

The Fast Company Innovation by Design Awards celebrate projects that push boundaries and enhance lives globally. The student category highlights outstanding work from undergraduates, graduates, and recent alumni.

During their second year at Brandcenter, Athena Michaels (Art Direction, 2024), Alexandra Abbott (Experience Design, 2024), and Selma Kettwich (Copywriting, 2024), demonstrated how creativity and technology can converge to solve pressing challenges.

“Our app shows that creativity and sustainability can lead to positive change. Sous fills a gap in the market as the first of its kind. Our world needs this category of innovation now more than ever,” said the team.

The project inspires future possibilities, such as connecting kitchen inventories for collaborative meal planning and supporting nutritional needs across distances.

Congratulations to the entire team on this well-deserved recognition!
